Benjamin Geza Affleck (born August 15 1972) is an American actor and filmmaker. His achievements include two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and the Volpi Cup, the principal award for actors during the Venice Film Festival. When he was a kid, he appeared in the PBS educational program The Voyage of the Mimi (1984-1988). Then, he appeared on the independent comedy Dazed and Confused (1993) as well as numerous Kevin Smith films including Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997) and Dogma (1999). Affleck was recognized more widely when he and his childhood pal Matt Damon won the Golden Globe as well as the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for writing Good Will Hunting (1997), which they also starred in. Affleck was then a prominent man in studio films like the film about disasters Armageddon (1998) and the war drama Pearl Harbor (192001). Affleck also appeared in the thrillers The Sum of All Fears (both 2002).
