Barbara Eden, born Barbara Jean Morehead on the 23rd of August 1931, is an American performer and actress. She is most well-known for her character Jeannie on the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie (1965-1970). Roslyn Pierce as Elvis Presley's sidekick Flaming Star (1960), Lieutenant JG Cathy Connors (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea between 1961 and) as well as Stella Johnson, a widowed mother in Harper Valley PTA (1978) are some other noteworthy roles. In the wake of the success of the film Eden returned to her character in the role of Stella Johnson in a two-season TV show, Harper Valley PTA.Eden's first public appearance was as a member of the church choir, where she sang the solos. She was a member of local bands led by Howard Fredericks, Freddie Martin as a teen. She also took theater classes at City College of San Francisco for a single year. Barbara Huffman was her Miss San Francisco 1951 election. She also competed for Miss California in 1955.
