John Christopher Depp II (born on June 9, 1963) is an American actor and musician. Many awards have been given to Depp among them the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Golden Globe Award. He was also nominated for three Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards and Platoon (1986). Depp rose to fame as an 21 Jump Street teen idol (1987-1990). Depp was a principal actor in independent films, often with eccentric directors, in the 1990s. Cry-Baby (1990), Cry-Baby? (1993), Benny and Joon (93), Dead Man (1995), Donnie Brasco (1997), Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas (1998). Depp has also begun his longtime collaboration with director Tim Burton, portraying the leads in the film Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994) as well as Sleepy Hollow (1999).In the 2000s, Depp became one of the most successful commercial film stars.
