Whoopi Goldberg

 Caryn Elaine Johnson (born November 13, 1955) is known professionally as Whoopi Goldberg (/'wUpiWhoopi Goldberg/) is an American comedian, actor, author, and television personality.A recipient of many awards, she is one of 17 entertainers to be awarded the EGOT that includes an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award as well as an Academy Award ("Oscar"), and an Tony Award. In 2001, she was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.Goldberg began her career on the stage in 1983, with her solo show, Spook Show. The show was later moved to Broadway under the title Whoopi Goldberg, running from 1984 until 1985. She won an Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for the production of the show. Her first film role was in 1985, when she played Celie as a woman who is abused in the Deep South in Steven Spielberg’s period drama film The Color Purple. She was awarded the Golden Globe Award as Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama.
