Mark Johnson (born December 27 1945) is an American film and television producer. Johnson received the Best Picture Academy Award for making the 1988 drama film Rain Man, starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. The film, winner of four Oscars and an award called the Golden Globe for Best Picture.ohnson first began working in the show business in 1965, as an actor in the role of the sheriff's deputy in the Spanish "Spaghetti Western" Brandy, directed by Jose Luis Borau. In Spain where he spent the first the majority of his time as a child. He worked as an extra in movies like Nicholas and Alexandra by Franklin Schaffner and Dr. Zhivago by David Lean. In his early years, he was able to play minor parts in European western Ride and Kill and The Thin Red Line (1964). After receiving an undergraduate degree in Drama at the University of Virginia and an MA in Film Scholarship from the University of Iowa,
