Taraji Penda Henson (/t@'ra:dZi/ T@-RAH-jee, born on September 11, 1970) is an American actress. She was a student at Howard University and began her Hollywood career as a guest on several television shows before making her breakthrough in Baby Boy (2001). She was a prostitute in Hustle & Flow (2005) where she received a Screen Actors Guild Award in Outstanding Performance for a Cast in a Motion Picture nomination. In 2008, she appeared in the character of a single mother with a disabled child in David Fincher’s The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (2008) for which she was awarded Critics Choice Award, SAG Award as well as Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She starred in Date Night in 2010 and was also a co-star on the remake of The Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.
