Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born on April 24 in 1982. She is an American writer, singer and a television host. She rose to fame following her win in the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002, which led to a record contract with RCA. "A Moment Like This" the first single she released was a top hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the country's most-sold single in 2002. It was included on her debut studio album, Thankful (2003), which debuted atop the Billboard 200. In an effort to change her image, Clarkson parted ways with Idol management and shifted to pop rock for her sophomore studio album, Breakaway (2004). Breakaway was supported by four US Top-Ten hits, including the title track, "Since U Have Been Gone", "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and "Because of You". The album sold more than 12 million copies around the world and she was awarded two Grammy Awards. Clarkson also assumed creative control of her third album My December (2006) by writing all songs and serving as its executive producer. The label, however, was unhappy with the album's more mellow rock and pushed it back.
