Jennifer Kate Hudson, also called J.Hud (born 12 September 1981), is an American actress, singer, and talk-show host. She has been awarded numerous accolades for her work in the fields of television, film theatre, and recording songs throughout her professional career. Hudson was the first African-American woman, and the youngest to win all four major American entertainment awards: Emmy (Grammy), Oscar, Tony (EGOT), and Oscar (Oscar). In 2013, she was also presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Time named her one the top 100 people around the world in 2020. She became famous by being a finalist for American Idol's season three in 2004, where she placed seventh. Her first film appearance was in the role of Effie White in the musical Dreamgirls (2006), for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and became the youngest African-American to win in a category for acting competition. After signing to Arista Records, Hudson released her debut studio album self-titled in 2008, which was certified Gold in the US and UK and was awarded the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
