George Strait

George Harvey Strait Sr. was born on May 18th, 1952. He is an American singer, songwriter and actor. Strait is known as the "King of Country" and is thought to be among the most influential and well-known recording musicians ever recorded at the time.In the 1980s, he was a prominent and pioneering figure in the neotraditional country movement known for his simplistic western image and his roots-oriented style in a time when the Nashville music industry was dominated by country pop crossover acts.Strait's success began when his first hit single "Unwound" was a huge hit in 1981, signalling the rise of the neotraditional style. In the 1980s, seven of his albums were number one on the country charts. In the year 2000, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and received his first Grammy award for the album Troubadour. Strait was awarded the CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, 1990 and 2013.
