William Maher (/ma/r/; born on January 20, 1956), is an American writer and comedian. Maher is also a producer, political commentator and actor. Maher's HBO political talk show Real Time With Bill Maher (2003 to present) and his late-night talk show, Politically Incorrect (1993-192002), are well-known. Maher started the podcast Club Random in 2022. The show is well-known for its humorous political satire and sociopolitical commentary. His topics include religion, politics rightness, mass media. Religulous, his documentary film about religion, which he created in 2008, is founded on his skepticism. Maher is a strong advocate for animal rights, and has been an official on the PETA board since 1997. Maher is also on the advisory board for Project Reason. In 2005, Maher was ranked 38 on Comedy Central's 100 greatest stand-up comedians. Maher received an honorary Hollywood Walk of Fame star on September 14, 2010. In 2014, Maher won a Primetime Emmy Award for his work as an executive producer for Vice.
