Anson Williams (born Anson William Heimlich on September 25, 1949 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor or singer as well as director, best known for his character as the gullible, well-intentioned singer Warren "Potsie" Weber on the television series Happy Days (1974-1984), in a character for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting actor for a TV series, Miniseries or Television Film.Unlike Howard and Most, Williams was one of the few to remain through the entire run of the show, even though his appearances decreased in the later seasons. In some episodes, Richie, Potsie, and Ralph created a group which performed at Arnold's Drive-In and other places. Williams sang the lead vocals as Potsie. Williams's wife of his first, Lorrie Mahaffey, portrayed the character's girlfriend, Jennifer, in later seasons. After Happy Days, Williams began a much more prolific career as a director of television and producer, beginning with short shows that targeted children aged 12 to 18, including after-school programming like "No Better gift" (1985) and "The Drug Knot" (1986) as well as TV-movies like Lone Star Kid (1986).Despite his accomplishments as a director as well as producer, Williams has occasionally returned to his work on Happy Days in retrospective ways.
