Raquel Welch

Jo Raquel Welch (nye Tejada 5 September 1940) was an American actress from America. She gained attention first for her role as Fantastic Voyage (1966), and later she was offered an acting contract by 20th Century Fox. They granted her contract to Hammer Film Productions in Britain, where she was featured in One Million Years B.C. (1966). Even though she had just three lines of dialogue in the film, images of her in the doe-skin bikini became best-selling posters, making her an international symbol of sex. In later years, she was in Bedazzled (1967) and Bandolero! (1968), 100 Rifles (1969), Myra Breckinridge (1970) and Hannie Caulder (1971). Welch was the star of many television variety specials. Her performance of powerful women characters helped break out of the mold of the traditional sex symbol. Hollywood's constant promotion of blonde bombshells is a large part the reason for her rise to stardom in mid-1960s. She was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy in 1974 for her role in The Three Musketeers.
