Jane Seymour (c. 1508 - 24 October 1537) was the Queen of England as the third wife of King Henry VIII of England from their wedding on the 30th of May 1536 until her death the following year. Her reign was crowned following Henry's execution for his second spouse, Anne Boleyn. Her death was due to postnatal complications just two weeks after the birth of her only child, who would later become King Edward VI. The only spouse of Henry to be invited to a funeral for the queen or be buried beside Henry at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.Jane was not as well educated as Henry's first and second wives, Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn. She could write and read somewhat, but was more skilled in household management and needlework, which were considered much more essential for women.
