American musician James Alan Hetfield was born August 3 in 1963. He is the main singer of Metallica, a rhythm guitarist, co-founder and main songwriter of heavy metal band Metallica. The intricate rhythm playing of his is his forte. He also plays solos and leads guitar live or in the studio. Hetfield co-founded Metallica in the month of October, 1981, following an advertisement put out by drummer Lars Ulrich in the Los Angeles newspaper The Recycler.
