Christina Renee Hendricks (born May 3, 1975) is an American actress and former model. She has enjoyed a lengthy career on stage and screen, earning numerous accolades including six Primetime Emmy Award nominations and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. The critics also awarded her two Critics' Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actress in Drama Series. Her character of Joan Harris on the AMC drama series Mad Men is among her most well-known. She was named as the "sexiest woman in America" by Esquire magazine in 2010. Her parents were an American mother in Knoxville, Tennessee and an English father in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was involved in theater , and also was active in the community theater. Following her Seventeen cover contest entry, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in modeling. The model continued working internationally as a model for over a decade before transitioning into acting.
