Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10 in 1983) is an American country singer. She rose to prominence following her win in the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. The first country singer to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and the only solo artist who reached the number one position on the Hot 100 in 2000s. The album she released her debut album, Some Hearts (2005) was supported by the successful crossover singles "Jesus, Take the Wheel" and "Before He Cheats", being the highest-selling solo female debut album in country music history. She won three Grammy Awards for the album, including Best New Artist. The following studio album, Carnival Ride (2007) was one of the most significant opening weeks of all time by a female artist , and received two Grammy Awards. The song "Cowboy Casanova" was her third studio album, preceded the album Play On (2009). The album was among the biggest single-week gains on the Hot 100.
