International Women's Day is March 8th, 2022. This year's theme is #BreakTheBias. All of us have biases. It's part and parcel of human nature. Our collective biases can manifest in the societies and systems that contribute to gender inequities."Gender discrimination and gender stereotypes are deep-rooted in our society that people of all genders get into gender traps," says Rachel Thomas co-founder and CEO of LeanIn.Org and OptionB.Org. "For instance, we tend to underestimate women's capabilities and are more likely to doubt women's abilities, even within their particular fields of expertise. Studies on performance reviews show women are more likely to be criticized for their personal manner of conduct. All of this implies that women are less likely than men to be promoted to the first managerial-level critical position. Even today with some of the improvements we've seen over the past couple of years regarding women's representation in leadershippositions, only one out of four C-suite managers is female and only one in 25 C-suite leaders is a woman of race."
