"Burns has also been the recipient of more than 20 honorary degrees. The film "The Civil War" has won more than 40 major television and film awards including two Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards, Producer of the Year Award from the Producers Guild of America, and a People's Choice Award, a Peabody Award, a duPont-Columbia Award, the D. W. Griffith Award as well as the $50,000 Lincoln Prize. The 2017 documentary "The Vietnam War" was also praised. There's a Ken Burns Wing at Hampshire College's Jerome Liebling Center for Film Photography, Film, and Video. In 2004 Burns received the S. Roger Horchow Award for the most outstanding public service by a Private Citizen. This award is handed each year by Jefferson Awards.
