He is a controversial figure in sports media and digital media. Since he was the founder of Barstool Sports, he has almost single-highhandedly revolutionized how sports are reported in the present. Dave has built an empire that encompasses a variety of sites, podcasts and merchandise. Dave has also gained a reputation for never backing down from an argument. He started a twitter war with Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio Cortez a few months back. Many reporters were against Portnoy, Barstool and all of it. It's likely that the critics are likely to be astonished today...Earlier this morning, it was announced that Penn National Gaming Company was purchasing 36% of Barstool which valued Barstool at $450 million. Penn National will pay $163million in cash today. The Penn National will pay $163 million in cash today. They are able to put in $62 million over the next three years in order to increase their stake to 50%. This isn't Barstool's first major transaction. In January 2016, the Chernin Group paid $10 - $15 million for what was a 60% stake and an investment of $25 million into Barstool. After today's transaction, Penn National and Chernin will each own 36% stakes.
