Dolly Rebecca Parton, born on January 19, 1946 was an American singer-songwriter and actress. Also, she is a philanthropist as well as a businesswoman. Her work in the field of country music is her most renowned accomplishment. Parton's popularity as a songwriter prompted her to release her debut album in 1967, with Hello, I'm Dolly. The album was followed by popularity throughout the 1960s, both as a solo artist and in a collaboration with Porter Wagoner, before she reached her peak sales during the 1970s and continued through the 1980s. Although her 1990 albums did not sell well however, she did achieve commercial success in the 2000s. She has since released albums through various independent labels which include Dolly Records. She has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide.Parton's music is Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)-certified platinum, gold, and multi-platinum awards. Her songs have had 25 make it to no. She was ranked no. 1 on the Billboard country chart this year, which is the highest record for a female artist (tied with Reba McEntire).
